A tale of two sentences

The Crawford County D.A.'s office is recommending that former Cambridge Springs resident Christopher Cote, who pleaded guilty to felony assault of a 3-month-old girl, receive the mandatory minimum five-year sentence for his crime. (He goes before Judge Gordon Miller for sentencing in May and could get up to 25 years.)

Meanwhile, the D.A.'s office is recommending that beer baron Casey Castile get five years for knocking off the Cambridge and Saegertown beer distributors last year. (Castile has already been sentenced to 20 to 40 years for similar crimes in Erie County.)

Five years is probably too little for either crime--especially Cote's. We can only hope that Judge Gordon Miller, who will sentence both men, makes the right call.
